Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, stated his thoughts on receiving accolades from Indian ace Virat Kohli and how it was extremely gratifying to have it from the batsman of their arch-rival team.

According to the captain of the Pakistani national team, receiving compliments from Indian star player Virat Kholi "is a matter of pride for him" and "made him feel good."

The Green Shirts skipper stated, "It feels pretty good when someone makes such comments about you," in an interview with an Indian TV channel before the arch-rivals' match at the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 on Saturday (September 2) in Kandy, Sri Lanka. For me, Virat Kohli's remarks about me are a source of pride.

Azam, who is 28 years old, is currently ranked as the best batter in ODIs and also places in the top four in Test and T20I rankings. As the green shirts get ready for the ICC World Cup 2023, which will be held in India later this year, all eyes will be on him.

The 28-year-old remembered his initial meeting with the 34-year-old as well.

"He was at the height of his career when I first met him at the World Cup 2019 and he still is. I had in mind to ask him for something at the time. When asked about his encounter with the Indian great during the 2019 World Cup, Babar remarked, "I got to learn a lot from him.

"I asked him the questions I had in mind, and he generously answered and explained every one of them."
