MULTAN: Iftikhar Ali Sahu, the secretary for agriculture in Punjab, has urged growers and experts to prioritize cotton nutrition management, especially during the crucial months of September and October.

He emphasized the necessity for optimizing cotton production, which had declined dramatically in the previous four years, while presiding over a virtually divisional cotton management conference at the Civil Secretariat.

In order to develop a complete plan for the forthcoming harvest, he requested that the divisional directors of cotton keep track of when raw cotton arrived to ginning plants.

Participants in the meeting agreed that the cotton market's stability was a good thing that would boost farmer wealth and have a beneficial effect on the crop being harvested right now.

Although reports of whitefly, mealybug, and pink bollworm infestations existed, they did not significantly harm the crops. Advanced chemical treatment was being used by teams from the Agriculture Extension and Pest Warning Departments to address the problems.

In response to worries raised by the flood-affected areas of South Punjab, Sahu emphasized the necessity for thorough monitoring and technical assistance to aid farmers in choosing clean cotton. In order to guarantee the prosperity of farmers and maintain the stability of the national economy, the secretary emphasized the importance of increasing cotton production per acre.

He acknowledged the officers' efforts and hard work but was certain that the current season will see the cotton production goal met.
