Russia has sent out an estimated 100,000 troops to relaunch attacks in the northeast of Ukraine. But according to Quentin Sommerville, who has spent the previous month in the region with Ukrainian troops, the increasingly sophisticated drone attacks are the thing that people are most afraid of.

It's on fire in the Serebrianskyi woodland. The smell of wood smoke in the midst of the pine trees is initially just a slight breeze nudge. The sound of distant artillery booms as three members of the 1st Special Purpose Bohun Brigade get inside an armored Humvee.

Taras, the press officer for the brigade, had earlier informed us that "it's like Verdun out there." an allusion to the World War One front lines.

East of the city of Lyman is where the vast forest is located. The Russians have recently made modest gains here and up north to the city of Kupiansk. However, the commander of Ukraine's eastern army claims that the threat is significant.

General Oleksandr Syrskyi issued a social media alert last week stating that Russian soldiers were reorganizing in the east. He asserts that Russia has gathered over 900 tanks and 100,000 soldiers in the area.
